It all began at the Feuerstein: Laurent Schwarz, a great little artist

Published 12.06.2024

Laurent Schwarz, a two-year-old from Bavaria, is currently turning the international art scene on its head. His brightly coloured abstract works now hang on the walls of art lovers all over the world. His fledgling career as an artist began here at the Feuerstein in our painting studio.

Laurent's artistic beginnings

A few months ago, in November 2023, Laurent and his family were guests at the Feuerstein for the first time. Like most children, he visited our painting studio back then. He immediately picked up a brush and paper with confidence and started painting as if he had never done anything else. Further visits to our painting studio followed during his stay – Laurent was almost impossible to get out.

Laurent's parents recognised his great love of painting and his talent and set up a small studio for him at home. Since then, numerous works of art have been created there, and it can never be colourful enough for the little artist. Laurent applies the colour to the canvas using rollers, brushes, scrapers or his own hands. “His favourite things to paint are elephants, horses and dinosaurs,” says his mum Lisa Schwarz and, on closer inspection, you can actually see abstract depictions of animals, people and objects in his paintings.

laurents.art goes viral

Laurent finally became famous shortly before Christmas 2023 when his mum posted some of his works on Instagram. “I was just so proud of my son and thought nothing more of it,” says Lisa Schwarz. But the two-year-old's artwork quickly went viral. His videos have since been viewed millions of times. This soon brought him to the attention of the art world. Among other things, Laurent exhibited his works at Munich's largest art fair, ART MUC, and sold them to art connoisseurs from all over the world. His first own exhibition will follow in August this year.

Laurent's love of art

"Laurent loves to paint. It's his absolute favourite pastime at the moment. However, he is always free to choose whether he paints, plays with his Lego bricks or digs in the sandpit,” underlines the little artist's mother.

It is a great pleasure and honour for us at the Feuerstein that Laurent has discovered his talent and his love of art in our painting studio. Once again, it has been shown that the Feuerstein is a very special place. A place where you can unfold and just be. A place of togetherness. A place where dreams come true.
