Activities and leisure time
The weather in the Pflerschtal valley
Winter kicks off around the beginning of December in the Pflerschtal valley. Ski resorts are open from December until Easter. In early April nature awakens and the first signs of spring appear in the valley. At Whitsun, mountain huts start to open their doors once again and invite you to stop for a bite to eat after hiking. The warm yet not too hot days between mid-May and the end of June are ideal for this. However, please note that the weather in the mountains often changes unexpectedly, which is why you should always carry a jacket and a sun protection in your backpack. The beginning of July marks the beginning of the season for alpinism in high altitude. At the end of August, temperatures start to drop again, providing pleasantly fresh shadows and evenings. Autumn sets in from mid-September. At this time of the year, hiking across the colourful landscape provides an extraordinary experience. Most alpine huts are open until the end of October. Then again, November is the ideal month to enjoy a few days of wellness.
The hotel’s weekly programme
At the Feuerstein, you can also enjoy an extensive recreational programme every day ranging from childcare and parent-child activities to a rich sports programme as well as guided hiking and bike tours, sauna infusions, wine tastings, cooking lessons, gin nights and many more. Please note that due to organisational reasons it is necessary to register your participation in most of the activities via the Feuerstein app.
In the event of bad weather
In case of bad weather, our on-site programme is adjusted and relocated indoors. The surrounding area also offers a number of activities for rainy days, such as a visit to the Mining Museum in the locality of Ridnaun/Ridanna, Wolfsthurn Castle and many other museums. Also well worth a visit are the cities of Innsbruck with its Alpine Zoo as well as Bozen/Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol, where you can visit the Museum of Archaeology – which is home to Ötzi the Iceman – or the South Tyrol Natural History Museum.
Our bathing pond
Our garden features a bathing pond which is especially refreshing in the months of July and August. At its deepest point, the lake measures 1.4 metres in depth; the shore runs shallow and the ground gradually descends towards the centre.
Grocery & shopping
Within a 10-minute walk from the hotel, the hamlet of St. Anton/S. Antonio features a small corner shop with a selection of groceries and homeware. The city of Sterzing/Vipiteno, with its picturesque historic centre, can be reached in about 20 minutes by car. Most shops are open from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., while they are closed on Thursday afternoons and Sundays. The Eurospar supermarket in Sterzing as well as the outlet centre at the Brenner Pass are both open on Sundays.
Skiing
The closest ski areas are those of Ladurns (4 km), Rosskopf/Monte Cavallo (13 km) and Ratschings-Jaufen/Racines-Giovo (27 km). You can purchase your ski passes and rent the equipment directly at the ski resorts. Click here for more information about ski lessons in the Ladurns skiing area.
Ski lessons
Click here for more information about ski lessons in the Ladurns ski area (courses must be booked directly with the ski school).
Children attending the weekly ski course are accompanied to and from the course with the hotel shuttle. Adults and children who are not taking part in the weekly ski course may take the public ski bus to Ladurns (the bus stop is right in front of our hotel).
The half-day ski course (about 215 €) starts at 9.45 a.m. and ends at 1.30 p.m. whereas the full-day ski course (about 265 €) takes place from 9.45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both options also include lunch at the Ladurns ski school. We will pick up all children attending the half-day course after lunch which means that afterwards they can directly join the childcare programme at the hotel.
Please note: Attendance at a ski course is only recommended for children aged 4 and above. Children up to 4 years of age will enjoy our magic carpet located directly in the hotel garden, where toddlers can either gain their first experience on skis with one of our ski instructors or attempt their first swings alongside their parents.
Evening programme
Almost every evening the Feuerstein hosts a great programme including live music, a magic show, wine tastings, a farmers' market and much more.

Our animals
Our equestrian centre and the Feuerstein farm are home to horses, ponies, alpacas, sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens and rabbits. We regularly visit and pet the animals as part of our childcare programme.
